2 Weeks Old
Chili is the first of the pups to start to open his eyes.  This isn't too surprising, he seems to be the most determined to do everything.  He has been working at escape all week and though he hasn't been successful yet, it is just a matter of time.  Sophie is just starting to crack her eyes open this evening.  I am sure Pep won't be far behind.  All the pups are starting to get their feet under them and attempting to stand.  They are very wobbly and can only take about 1 step before toppling over but it won't be long before they are walking.  This week should be fun.  The pups will finish open their eyese and start to learn how to be mobile, good thing Winter Break starts tomorrow!

Sunday Morning Exploration
Yesterday was a lazy Saturday morning, today is all about exploration.  Both boys have been climbing the walls, I think by the time they are two weeks old we will have to check for escapees.  Sophie is much more interested in investigating every nook and cranny of the pen rather than look for new worlds to explore, but I am sure once she has thoroughly explored the pen she will be right there with the boys looking for new things.  It always amazes me how much exploring they do before their eyes are even open.  If this is how active they are with their eyes closed, they will sure keep us on our toes once their eyes open.

Saturday Morning
The pups are having a lazy morning after a filling meal.  When they aren't stuffed from eating they are starting to do a little more exploring of their whelping box.  I have also seen them doing small stretches.

First Yodel
Sam and I spend time every day holding the pups and petting them.  Last night as Sam was holding Chili and petting him, he yodeled!  It startled both Sam and I since it was totally unexpected.  Chili can be very loud but is not usually too vocal.  Pep vocalizes frequently but they are quieter sounds.  When I hold him he makes quiet happy sounds, he is also vocal when nursing.  Sophie is the only one who does not really vocalize.

First Nail Clipping
The puppies will be one week old tomorrow.  The are growing like weeds and are already a pound and a half.  They also had their first nail clipping today because the were starting to scratch mama.  We have also given them each baby names, these are the names we call them so they are not red boy, black boy, and black girl for the next 10 weeks.  The pups new owners will give the pups their "grown up" names.  We have started calling the red boy Chili, the black boy Pep, and the black girl Sophie.

Just Like Thanksgiving
The red boy was so stuffed he just rolled over and fell asleep.  He is a funny little fellow, who likes sleeping with his head tucked under the pig rails.  His brother favors the corners.

1 Pound Already
Boy can these pups eat.  It is hard to believe that they are already each 1 pound but that is what the scale says.  Anytime the pups are wake up they make their way straight to mom to hit the milk bar.  They do some exploring after the meals but mostly stick close to mom.  All of the pictures I have taken look almost identical, puppies happily nursing, sleeping, finding their way to mom to nurse, or finding their way to a sleeping spot.

Big Sister takes a Peek
Rio decided to sneak a peek at the the puppies.  She has been very worried about her mom and wanted to see what was taking all of her time.  Mom and puppies are doing well.   The babies have fat little bellies from all the nursing they are doing.  The boys both wag their little tails as they nurse, it is very cute.  Rally has been taking cat naps and looks pretty tired but unwilling to sleep for too long.  We will be going to vet today to have the pups' dew claws removed and let our vet check Rally's incision.

Restful Evening
Rally and the pups are having a restful evening.  The pups are nursing well and mom seems comfortable.  Rally's appetite seems normal and she is staying hydrated.  She does not like being away from her pups for too long so she makes sure her trips outside for a potty break are quick.

Home from the Hospital
Rally and her surviving 3 puppies are home from the hospital.  We have 1 red boy, 1 black boy, and 1 black girl.  Rally is happy to be able to clean them and care for them.  She is a very good mother and was very upset about the whole ordeal.
